Morgan Casa

The ladies from my church in Fort Worth threw me a gorgeous shower this last weekend. It could not have gone any better! I am so thankful to be a part of a church that takes good care of each other. A lot of my family came into town so they could attend. I feel so lucky and so loved!  Isn't that cake gorgeous?! Probably one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. Hostesses (sorry Mary Ellen!) Thank you so much for taking these amazing photos! I am so happy you could be there!  Where am I going to put all of this? :) Will is one lucky baby. 

My Fort Worth shower was yesterday, so my mom came in early on Friday to help me finish up some sewing for the nursery. We are so close to being done! I should be able to finish up the bumper pads this week and then we need to recover the bassinet. Of course, I have a long list of other projects I would like to complete, but that are not super important (e.g. diaper stacker, sleep sack, a runner to put on top of my bookcase, art for the walls, etc.). I wanted to share the pillows that we created for the nursery. My talented aunt designed all of these pillows. Let me know if you want her contact info, because she is amazing! The one above will probably go on the rocker/swivel chair. This is Matthew's favorite one. I love that it can be a "M" for Morgan or a "W" for Will. I am in love with the beading on this pillow. I did not make this pillow, but I found it at Pier One for only $12!!! I saw one similar to it at Pottery Barn a few mon...

So last night Matthew, Will, and I went to pick up the rocker/swivel chair that I posted about yesterday. I have been searching Craigslist daily for a chair like this for weeks and was thrilled when I saw this one and the price they wanted. I was so nervous as we drove an hour away that it was going to be uncomfortable or not as darling in person, but it was fantastic! Not only was it extremely comfortable, it was smaller than what I thought it would be which makes it perfect for our small nursery. I dropped it off at the upholstery shop this morning and they said they could have it ready in 2 weeks. I can't wait! I will post pictures as soon as I have them. P.S. A special thanks to Will (Matthew's best friend who we are naming our child after) for letting us borrow your truck and driving us all the way to Waxahachie. We do not know what we would do without all of your help.

Sorry for the lack of posts! I have been hard at work sewing the bedding for Will's nursery. My mom came in town last weekend and we worked our rear ends off making curtains, pillows and a bumper for the nursery. Hopefully I will have some pictures soon. This has been a lot more time consuming than I originally thought, but I have loved every minute of it. I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Tonight, Matthew and I are going to pick up this amazing rocker/swivel chair. I haven't sat in it yet, but I hope it is very comfortable because I love it's unique shape!  In a previous blog, I mentioned that I found this orange polka dot fabric for $1/yard at Home Fabrics. I will be sending this chair and ottoman immediately to my aunt's reupholster guy to get it all fixed up. I think it is going to be perfect in the room and add just the right amount of color to the neutral grays and blues that are being used in the bedding and window treatments. I will post...

This last weekend, I went to Abilene to have my first baby shower. I have the best friends! They threw me a beautiful shower and I felt so blessed and loved. The shower was held in the fellowship hall of my church back in Abilene. It was so good to see people who I haven't seen in months and I wish that I would have had more time to chat with everyone. I am on prenatal vitamins so that Will and I stay strong and healthy. They have made my hair grow like crazy, so don't judge all of the new baby hairs along the top of my scalp. If anyone knows how to make these stay swept back or to the side, please let me know. :) I have tried everything and it is making me nuts! Me and my sisters The lamb that my mom gave to Will. I have a new favorite furniture store! If you live in Abilene, I am sure that you know all about it, and if you don't you should definitely make a trip to check it out. It is called Junk It. They go to Canton and estate sales and purchase used furniture and sell it in their shop. You can go to their shop and browse the furniture, make a selection, then they have about a dozen paint options to choose from. You select your paint color and in 6-8 weeks it is ready to be picked up. The prices are very reasonable and I was very pleased with the end product. I chose a dresser that they converted into an entertainment center and a buffet with a hutch. I had them replace the knobs on the dresser with new knobs that I picked out at Lowe's, but I loved the look of the old knobs for the buffet. Last weekend, my husband and 2 of his friends installed a closet system in the nursery. Originally, the closet had one long shelf and hanging rod. I thought it would be better if we could have two rods and some organizing baskets. We are already short on storage in our house, so the more storage the better. We also needed to put new doors on the closet since the old ones were broken. After about 5 hours of labor and several trips to Lowe's we finished it and it looks fabulous! I can't wait to get the room completely organized.   Before   After
