Venice Hotel: Hotel DONI - Accommodations were dated, but it was very close to St. Mark's Square, shopping, and restaurants. Restaurants: * Trattoria de Gigi - HIGH recommendation, sit on the back porch, order the grilled cheese, best lasagna I've ever had, cheese plate, creme brûlée * Ristorante Cinese Capitol - great Chinese food! If you are tired of Italian, try this place. Get the spring rolls, Kung Pao, and great fried rice. We visited St. Mark's Square, St. Mark's Basilica, & Doge's Palace These dogs were in obedience school right in the middle of the square. We took an evening gondola ride. It was super expensive, but worth it. Venice is gorgeous! I wish we had had time to ride down the main passage way at night. At night in St. Mark's square, there is a battle of the orchestra bands.
